Below we introduce you to our past Summer Programs.

2009 Summer Trip

looking_2009 In the summer of 2009 a group of 14 students and tutors traveled to New Gelati Academy for a focused course on Georgian culture. Some of the subjects tstudied during their three week stay included Georgian art, philosophy and literature. These classes to place over the course of 2 weeks. We will traveled to historical Georgian sites to study the influence of philosophy on Georgian art and culture. Through the unique relationship between New Gelati Academy and OLEG that was strengthened through this summer trip, a new pathway of information sharing continues to be opened between Georgia and the United States. In order to accomplish these goals, OLEG raised over $20,000.

2008 Summer Trip

2008-scream_smIn the summer of 2008, OLEG sent a group of four students and one professor from St. John’s to Georgia for three and a half weeks to demonstrate the classical liberal arts program with potential professors and students at New Gelati Academy. This delegation held seminars and classes on the core classes of the St. John’s program that included a general discussion about the need for liberal education in Georgia. The group also traveled and investigated the culture of Georgia and its roots in liberal education dating back to the 12th century.
