OLEG's Programs
Summer Programs
Each summer, a delegation of St. John's students, faculty, and alumni travel to Georgia to conduct workshops with New Gelati students and faculty. The delegation conducts workshops, modeled after the St. John's Great Books curriculum, meant to familiarize the New Gelati community with St. John's discussion-based method of instruction. All participants engage in pursuing questions such as "what is liberal education?" and "how ought liberal education be done at New Gelati?"

Georgian Faculty Visit
In September 2010, OLEG plans to bring five New Gelati faculty members to the United States to spend a week at St. John's College. The faculty members will be immersed in the culture and classes of St. John's so that they may explore ways in which they can adapt the St. John's curriculum and structure to augment New Gelati's liberal education program.
Peace Project
In the summer of 2009 OLEG advised and observed the "New Conversation for Peace in Caucasus" peace project. With the experience gained through working in Georgia in 2008, some OLEG members were able to initiate this project in response to the recent regional conflicts. Winning a $10,000 grant from Davis Peace Projects that offers grants to college students, they designed a two-week program for youth (ages 16-24) affected by the conflicts.
Qartuli Club - OLEG Student Chapter
OLEG works with "Qartuli Club", a student group at St. John's College who are enthusiastic about Georgian culture. Some of the activities that are held are study groups on Georgian epic and lyric poetry, Supra (traditional toast-driven Georgian feast), singing of traditional Georgian folk songs and weekly Georgian dance lessons.
