The Georgian Faculty Visit is a new initiative in which five faculty members from New Gelati will travel to St. John’s College for a week in September 2010. While at St. John’s, they will attend a week’s worth of classes and seminars, meet formally and informally with professors and students outside of classes, join St. John’s students for luncheons, and give a lecture to the St. John’s community on the history of liberal education in Georgia and state of New Gelati.
Our Goals for the Georgian Faculty Visit include:
- Providing faculty members a chance to fully immerse themselves in St. John’s College’s discussion-based Great Books curriculum and learning community
- Encouraging the faculty to further learn about, grow in, and adapt the Great Books model for New Gelati Academy
- Sparking open dialogue and interest in New Gelati between the St. John’s community and the faculty visitors
- Encouraging the interest and involvement in OLEG of St. John’s tutors and students
The budget for this program is approximately $15,000. We invite you to support this project and our mission by making a gift.
